Create a Photo Spot!

Give your guests an unforgettable souvenir by setting up a photo area where they can capture a picture of themselves in character.

A few suggestions:

  • Pick a place where there will be good lighting.
  • You can make it as elaborate or simple as you want.
  • Accessories and decorations can make the difference. Have some extra props on hand that your guests can pose with.
  • An easy way to create a background is to use a “scene setter”. These affordable rolls of images transform your room instantly and make for a good backdrop to your picture.
  • Make sure there is enough room to fit everyone in to the frame.
  • For individual shots of guests, designate someone to be in charge of pictures as your guests arrive.
o Consider your character list and which character would fit the role of taking the picture. Ie, if you want mug shots, perhaps ask the investigator to be in charge of taking the pictures.
  • Included in the mystery packet is a sign to use for mug shots! (Pictured below.)
  • For a group picture, take one just before the introduction is read or right after the solution is read (before people may start heading out).
o These are two times when you can count on everyone being around and attentive.

BACKDROP IDEAS for your Trailer Park photo spot

  • Create a mug shot background and take pictures of all of your “Trailer Park Suspects.” Customizable line-up board included with mystery.
  • Use scene setters to make a simple background.
  • Make a trailer for all of your guests to crawl in and/or pose around!
  • Have a additional props for your guests to pose with.
  • Paint your own back drop to pose in front of!

Food & Music

There is no shortage of scrumptious food to be served at the trailer park! See here for ideas galore!!!

Trailer Park Recipies

When it comes to the Trailer Park BBQ, if you want to provide some food, here are some good options for Trailer Park Food (click on the names for links to the recipes).

Host a cook’off!

Have your guests bring a dish to share that they think embodies the theme. Encourage them to look for recipes made with Velveeta, Cream of Anything Soup, Jello or Lipton Onion Soup.

  • Make it into a fun contest on the side, to see who can come up with the best Trailer Park concoction.
  • If your guests are having trouble thinking of dishes, refer them to the list above!

Don’t forget Deeeezert

“Cakes” made from Ding Dongs, Twinkies, etc., Kitty Litter Cake and Fried Twinkies are just a few ideas…

Setting Your Table

  • Create planters/vases out old beer bottles or cans. Add water and some daisies.
    • If you can, pick dandelions the morning of for even more added affect.
  • Use garbage bags for table clothes
  • Have a bottle 6-pack out on the counter for silverware, napkins, condiments, etc.
  • Have mismatched napkins left from other events – Birthday, Easter and Christmas parties handy on every table.
  • Don’t forget the menu — a designed menu you can edit with your own dishes included with the mystery.

Drinks

It’s time to booze it up! And, believe me, there are plenty of options.

  • Boones Fine Wine
  • Your favorite 40s
  • Mad Dog 20/20
  • Lite Beer (cans, of course)
  • Killer trash can punch (see recipe here)
    • Serve in trash can for an authentic touch.
  • Jell-o shots
    • Consider lovely shades of lime green, electric raspberry, glow in the dark blue and school bus yellow.

HOW TO SERVE IT UP!

  • For bottled or canned beverages, fill a kid-sized pool with ice and chill
    • Or make a fountain out of two or three pools!
  • Do you go mason jars? Or red solo cups? Or perhaps Redneck Wine Glasses (pictured below).

Tips

All of the information regarding how to run your Trailer Park Tragedy party can be found online at Night of Mystery. We highly suggest that you take time to look over our website and download the Trailer Park Tragedy preview file. Upon reading the introduction file, it will give you a better understanding about how the parties are run and what to expect once you purchase a full mystery file.

If you still have question, the Frequently Asked Questions page at Night of Mystery is a great resource or you can contact us.

Since our games are custom written for the size of the party (ie, we don’t just create a mystery with 8 characters and then keep adding more characters to it), each mystery size is unique unto itself. That being said, going from 10-15 version to 15-20 version, will not only add in more characters, but it will change the storylines of the existing characters, and vice-versa in going from a larger version to a smaller one.

Because of this, WE STRONGLY SUGGEST you get a guest count before formally ordering. You can do so by downloading an invitation, inviting your guests and then purchasing your mystery once you have a more accurate number of people attending. Unfortunately, if you find yourself purchasing the wrong sized party, you will have to purchase another version of the mystery for the size you want unless you are moving from the 15-20 version to the 20+ version.

You can download an invitation here before ordering.

Check out some of these movies or t.v. specials set in or about trailer parks: Trailer Park Boys (the movie), Trailer Park Boys (the tv series), The Wrestler, 8 Mile.

ALSO, be sure to check out our PINTEREST Board that is filled with ideas for recipes, costumes, decorations, etc. that are all trailer park themed!!!
For even more party planning ideas, check out our Trailer Park Trash Pinterest Board here.

Once you order, in your mystery packet you will receive directions and/or printables to make unique and original decorations specific to your party!
Included will be:

– SIGNS INCLUDING: W.T. Trailer Park, Lot Sign, Ding Dong! Sign for Door, Lost Dog, Found Cat, Missing Husband, And more…
– DIRECTIONAL SIGN
– BUMPER STICKERS
– SUSPECT MUGSHOT BOARD
– PIN THE TAIL ON THE POSSUM GAME
– TEMPLATE FOR TRAILER PARK WINDCHIMES AND DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE THEM
